Ubiquity of computer graphics is eminent, assured by the diversity of applications and unparalleled impact on the human-computer interaction. Indeed computer graphics and visualization play central roles in many applications and the graphical features and their significance are easily recognizable from almost every application. Yet, as the computer graphics and visualization expand the horizon, they serve secondary and supporting role for bigger and higher domain-specific objectives: providing better representation, and fostering natural interaction metaphor for applications. One of the interesting aspects is that even if the computer graphics itself could be the enabling and deterministic technologies, it becomes more and more transparent and is blended into to the application software. In this changing tide of graphical applications, the core computer graphics techniques should be comprehensive and amenable to the domain-specific requirements. Although the requirements, such as fidelity, controllability, stability, data handing capacity, scalability, or interactivity vary to a large extent, often they converge to one penetrating concept: enhancing the user outcome within the domain specific criteria. In this talk, I will describe an overview of the domain specific modeling and simulation environments and how to connect the dots from theoretical principles to the domain-oriented application requirements
