Telemedicine is the delivery of health care and the exchange of health care information across distances using telecommunications technology. With the help of telemedicine now it is possible to get the consultancy from a specialist even the patient and consultant are thousand of miles away from each other. With the help of telemedicine you can transfer patient information over computer networks, the transfer of images such as radiographs, CT scans, MRI, Ultrasound studies, pathology images, video images of endoscopes or other procedures, patient interviews and examinations, consultations with medical specialists, and health care education activities. Now the help of technology the best treatment can be received from anywhere in the world. Communication between primary care physician and doctors save doctors and patient’s times. Despite of the fact that there are certain issues being raised in the use of telemedicine, it still holds a remarkable position and its use is highly appreciated. It is not yet fully developed field and still there are new projects being carried out the lay down new effective and better technology to serve the medical science area.
The physical and cultural geography of rural states make health care and health education a challenge. The physical geography and weather can be severe and the long winters and inclement weather can limit travel and access to medical services. The presentation will cover current advanced visualization and telemedicine projects in the US, NASA, and South Dakota State University
